TMC’s ITEXPO, one of the world’s best known Internet telephony conferences, kicked off for the 21st time this past Wednesday.  To launch the ITEXPO East event, TMC CEO and Conference Chairperson Rich Tehrani brought on stage in Miami three speakers whose keynotes demonstrated an eclectic mix of telecom experience. The first talk was delivered by Jeremy Wadhams, an IP communications architect at Yahoo! who described the “5 Stages of Grief” his team passed through as they migrated Yahoo!’s telecom infrastructure to an Asterisk open source platform – as well as the simplicity and adaptability of Yahoo!’s new, “less commercial” telecom solution.  In a nod to Peter Sellers, the second speaker and CTO at Polycom, Jeff Rodman, presented an historical overview of the progress in voice and video communication towards “Being There” – the overall goal of human telecom, defined as solutions that are telepresent, scalable, interoperable and worldwide. The third keynote was presented by David Erickson, founder and CEO of FreeConferenceCall.com, who outlined his company’s evolution from a single router to a software based system with a series of media servers that provide HD voice services to 12 million callers on a monthly basis. The presentations were well received by an audience of resellers, developers and enterprises who hailed from the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean.
